LSU has a head coaching vacancy after firing Brian Kelly amid unmet high expectations and a national search for his replacement. Ed Orgeron said he would love to return to LSU as head coach and claimed he could arrive immediately. Orgeron said he would also consider serving as an assistant under Lane Kiffin. Orgeron went 51-20 across six seasons at LSU, including a 15-0 2019 national championship, and left after the 2021 season in what he described as a mutual decision. Orgeron said the next coach must embrace Louisiana culture and that he still keeps a home in Baton Rouge.
