The unidentified suspect fled on a motorcycle and reached speeds exceeding 100 mph on the 210 freeway as officers pursued. An off-duty officer in a Toyota Camry veered into the biker's path, collided with him, and sent the rider and motorcycle airborne; both tumbled into the median. The suspect was airlifted to a hospital and expected to recover and will face murder charges. Nunez was a six-year department veteran honored by Gov. Gavin Newsom for his service.
