President Trump's travel ban has disrupted the lives of many immigrants from affected countries, who have settled throughout the U.S. in pursuit of safety and stability. Those fleeing violence and political turmoil are facing heightened fear as family reunifications become uncertain. The ban has not only targeted potential threats but threatens to tear apart families and communities. As the situation evolves, many immigrants fear for their future and the expiration of protections like Temporary Protected Status that allow them to work and live in safety.
"There's already this heightened awareness and heightened atmosphere of fear," said Amaha Kassa, executive director of the nonprofit African Communities Together.
Haitians in Ohio are particularly anxious, as their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is set to expire in August, leaving them uncertain about their futures.
