Recently declassified 1975 closed‑door hearing transcripts reveal administration of mind‑altering drugs to unwitting subjects during interrogations to induce discrediting behavior. One subject secretly received a large LSD dose that produced a severe paranoid reaction, leading an unwitting psychiatrist to declare him mentally ill and causing colleagues to lose faith in him. Gottlieb acknowledged that LSD (P-1) could be used to make someone behave erratically so colleagues would doubt his responsibility. Hearings also probed Gottlieb's links to CIA assassination plots and MHCHAOS support.
