Defense says Combs led 'swinger's lifestyle,' was not coercive
Briefly

During the federal trial of Sean Combs in Manhattan, his lawyer Marc Agnifilo delivered a lengthy defense that sought to reshape the prosecution's narrative of sex trafficking and racketeering. While the prosecution highlighted evidence of a pattern of abuse against Combs' former girlfriend, Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, Agnifilo acknowledged the violence depicted in video evidence but framed their relationship as more complex. He described Combs as leading a "swinger's lifestyle" but also admitted Combs has a drug problem, attempting to paint Ventura in a less sympathetic light as part of the defense strategy.
Agnifilo also acknowledged, however, that the jury has seen videotape of Combs kicking, shoving and dragging Ventura by her hair in a California hotel hallway in 2016.
Slavik, the prosecutor, outlined a long-standing pattern of abuse that began with the testimony of Combs' former girlfriend, Casandra "Cassie" Ventura.
