In light of escalating tensions between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, Rep. Blake Moore of Utah criticized Musk's exaggerations about finding significant cuts in government spending. Moore, part of the House DOGE caucus, expressed frustration over insufficient engagement with the White House regarding cost-saving measures. He insisted that many Democrats recognize government waste and conveyed a desire to collaborate on federal spending cuts. The caucus, once optimistic, has been declared nearly inactive due to the lack of interaction and support from the Biden administration.
"Most everybody knew Elon was exaggerating to what he could do," noted Republican Rep. Blake Moore, highlighting concerns over Musk's claims about potential cost savings.
"It's a massive exaggeration, and I think people are recognizing that now," Moore emphasized, reflecting on the skepticism surrounding Musk's assertions.
"We've always been a little frustrated that there was such limited interaction," Moore remarked about the DOGE caucus's failed attempts to engage with the White House.
"We couldn't really identify where we were to lean in, and we had a ton of folks ready to support it, but there just wasn't that interaction," Moore explained.
