""One positive indicator about the state of our industry in 2026 is the degree of engagement we now see with political issues," UMA President & Chief Executive Officer Scott Michael said. "Attendance at the Bus & Motorcoach Industry Legislative Fly-In has been growing over the years, and this year's event should see even more operators come together in Washington, D.C. to support key issues.""
""We are seeing increased activity at the state level, with Georgia operators recently succeeding in helping pass tort reform in their state to reduce insurance costs, and California operators engaging on environmental issues, among others," Michael added. "Those are just two examples of the work being done at the state level to ensure that policymakers are paying attention to our important industry and helping us be successful.""
United Motorcoach Association will hold the 2026 Bus & Motorcoach Industry Legislative Fly-In April 15–16 in Washington, D.C., for private motorcoach and public bus stakeholders. The event provides opportunities for company owners, managers, and representatives to meet members of Congress and Congressional staff to discuss laws and regulations affecting operators. Participation helps build relationships and demonstrates that real employers in members' districts are affected by policy decisions. Attendance at the Fly-In has been growing, and more operators are expected to come together to support key issues. State associations also work with elected officials on matters such as tort reform in Georgia and environmental policy in California. Visit uma.org/uma-legislative-fly-in for details.
