Cleta Mitchell, chairman of the Election Integrity Network, introduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, seeking proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration. In 2023, she established the FAIR Elections Fund to finance initiatives supporting claims of widespread noncitizen voting and the Big Lie of election fraud. Between July 2023 and June 2024, the fund raised $3.9 million, spending $2.1 million mainly on grants. Despite claiming to work full-time for the fund without salary, questions arise regarding her compensation. Evidence shows noncitizen voting is very rare, contrary to the narratives promoted by Mitchell.
