The Aukus agreement between Australia and the UK is expected to undergo an extended review under the Trump administration, which may last well beyond the initial 30 days. Sir Stephen Lovegrove indicated that both nations would participate in the Pentagon assessment, but a public timeline remains uncertain. The review's start date is unclear, and the completion may not occur for months. Lovegrove emphasized the importance of public advocacy for Aukus and suggested that bipartisan representatives should support the $360 billion deal. He believes ongoing adjustments to Aukus are necessary as it evolves over time.
Aukus needs constant love and attention. It is a huge thing. It is protean and it will change its shape a bit as time goes on, and that is quite right too.
I think there's a bit of a way to go. I am anticipating that we will be in a position to reinforce and give supportive perspectives to the review.
