Gavin Newsom says he'll consider White House bid after 2026 midterms - 'I'd be lying otherwise' | Fortune
"I'd be lying otherwise."
"I'm looking forward to who presents themselves in 2028 and who meets that moment. And that's the question for the American people,"
"He's a wrecking ball. Not just the symbolism and substance of the East Wing,"
"He's wrecking alliances, truth, trust, tradition, institutions."
Gavin Newsom said he will seriously consider a 2028 presidential run after the 2026 midterms. He is term-limited as California governor and has worked to raise his national profile using combative, Trump-like social media posts, memes and merchandise. He has clashed with President Donald Trump over California National Guard deployment and redistricting moves and led a campaign to redraw California maps to add five Democratic U.S. House seats via Proposition 50, with voting concluding Nov. 4. Newsom described Trump as an "invasive species" and accused him of damaging alliances, truth, trust, tradition and institutions. Newsom launched a podcast to brand himself as a centrist.
