Latino neighborhoods overwhelmingly targeted in immigration raids, rights group says
Briefly

Federal immigration raids primarily impacted Latino neighborhoods in Los Angeles, based on data from a significant immigrant rights group. CHIRLA documented 471 enforcement actions between June 6 and July 20. Jorge-Mario Cabrera indicated that CHIRLA likely captured only one third of the enforcement activity county-wide. During the same timeframe, they received 1,677 calls about enforcement activities that could not be confirmed, including many reports of armed agents and random arrests. A notable percentage of the highest enforcement areas had populations that were predominantly Latino.
"The blatant racial profiling by the Trump Administration is clearly visible in this map," said Angelica Salas, Executive Director for CHIRLA, in a press release.
Cabrera suspects CHIRLA caught one third of the enforcement activity that took place across the county.
Of the five zip codes with the highest immigration enforcement numbers, a combined 76% of the population was Latino, CHIRLA's analysis shows.
During the same period of time, CHIRLA claims to have received 1,677 calls of enforcement activities across the region that it could not confirm.
