Michael Gann, age 55, was arrested for alleged attempts to detonate multiple homemade explosives in Manhattan, with one device found on subway tracks. He previously ordered materials to create at least seven explosives and had placed additional devices on a rooftop in SoHo. A federal indictment included images of him releasing these devices. Gann's internet history revealed numerous searches regarding gun procurement and explosives, and he reportedly lied to police about disposing of them. A seventh explosive was discovered on his person during the arrest.

On June 5, 2025, Gann allegedly placed an explosive on the Williamsburg Bridge's subway track and additional devices on a residential rooftop in SoHo.
A security camera captured Gann moving on the rooftop where he allegedly placed the explosives, and his internet searches revealed a pattern of interest in guns and explosives.
