In a recent episode of Carl Higbie Frontline on Newsmax, host Carl Higbie introduced a theory suggesting that President Donald Trump might be covertly working with Elon Musk to sabotage his own significant budget bill. Higbie pointed out that even with Musk's public criticisms of the legislation, Trump hasn’t retaliated, which is unusual for his political style. He contrasted this behavior with Trump's typical responses to dissent, referencing his past attacks on political figures like Gov. Ron DeSantis and Rep. Thomas Massie. Higbie proposed that Trump may intend to force Congress to reconsider the budget by creating political pressure, suggesting it’s a strategic move rather than a failure of leadership.
I think Trump might be working in tandem with Elon here to tank his own bill in a 4D chess move! Higbie said.
Higbie cited Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) as two foes who Trump immediately attacked as soon as they crossed him.
So why hasn't Trump said anything negative about Elon? Higbie said. Maybe Trump is also reading the country that's not thrilled about massive deficits.
Of course, Trump was nowhere near as tightly-aligned with either DeSantis or Massie as he was with Musk.
