In response to Donald Trump's threats to attack Iran, a coalition of lawmakers led by Republican Thomas Massie and progressive Democrats has introduced a war powers resolution requiring congressional approval for military engagement. This move follows Trump's demands for Iran's surrender after a G7 summit. The White House denied U.S. involvement but military assets have been deployed to the region. Congressional leaders emphasize the necessity for following constitutional processes in matters of war, reflecting a significant bipartisan effort to address executive military authority.

But if it were, Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution, Massie wrote on X in announcing the resolution.
