Local founders and investors have put much of their work on hold and now focus on community support, volunteering at churches, and buying food for frightened neighbors. A grassroots response across race and class has emerged, with people donating, protesting, and offering emotional support. Federal agents in plainclothes and military-grade gear have been seen searching public transit, workplaces, parking lots, outside homes, and near schools. Many residents, including U.S. citizens of color, report profiling and widespread fear, making business continuity and team management difficult.
