Ukrainian soldiers are undergoing Western training focused on maximizing lethality and efficient ammunition use due to significant shortages compared to Russian forces. Col. Boardman emphasized that the training aims to ensure each shot fired is effective, which is crucial given Ukraine's limited resources. The training program has provided instruction to over 56,000 Ukrainian troops, incorporating an emphasis on marksmanship and survival in combat. The intent is to prepare these soldiers to perform effectively while managing their ammunition constraints in an intense conflict.
The Ukrainians don't have the luxury of a huge amount of ammunition in the way the Russians do. It means Ukraine needs to make best use of the ammunition they've got.
Making every shot count in a literal sense is really important for the Ukrainians. So we spend quite a lot of time on the range coaching the marksmanship of the guys we're training to make sure that they do make every shot count when they get to the front.
