Republicans are pushing the SAVE Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship such as a birth certificate or passport to register to vote. Opponents warn that millions of citizens lack those documents or do not have them readily available. The House passed the bill, but the Senate needs 60 votes to advance it while Republicans hold 53 seats. Tuberville suggested eliminating the 60-vote threshold and echoed demands for closed borders and election integrity tied to false 2020 fraud claims.
