Canva introduces an AI fix-it button
"Ask @Canva launches aside Canva's first foundational model-an AI model it trained in-house specifically for its own purposes. Instead of generating static designs, it produces new projects as full, editable design templates. That means when Canva uses AI to generate your slide deck or social post, all of the text and photos are discreetly editable with the same basic interface Canva has offered for years."
"Think of Ask @Canva as a design intern, or perhaps "save me!" button, that you can request to redesign or rewrite any element on the page-and even critique your entire project. How Ask @Canva works The feature follows Canva's aggressive adoption of generative AI into its UX. In 2023, Canva was the first in its peer group to bring barebones generative AI into its app."
Canva's Ask @Canva enables users to make nearly any element of a design editable by AI through simple requests. The feature launches alongside Canva's first in-house foundational model and generates complete, editable design templates rather than static images. Text, photos, and typography are produced to match tone and remain individually editable. Images and illustrations are generated by default but can be swapped with user assets. Invisible AI continuously arranges elements for aesthetic balance within the interface. Ask @Canva can redesign, rewrite, or critique entire projects. Canva previously added generative features in 2023, Magic Studio in 2024, and Visual Suite 2.0 earlier this year.
