Anthropic comes for the midmarket software spend
""Companies from community banks to mid-sized manufacturers and regional health systems stand to gain from AI, but lack the in-house resources to build and run frontier deployments," Anthropic said in a press release."
""There are some really strong reasons to focus on the midmarket," Shari Lava, IDC's group vice president of AI, data, and automation, told The Register. "First of all, there is just the sheer number of midmarket companies ... Second, midmarket companies tend to act more nimbly - they have to in order to compete effectively.""
""While most work with multiple hyperscalers and SaaS companies, most of the projects have little support from the vendor directly, meaning partners are key to any deal," she told The Register."
Anthropic is establishing a standalone AI-native enterprise services firm aimed at mid-sized companies, enabling them to create custom Claude-powered systems for their core operations. The initiative is supported by private equity and banking investors. Many midmarket companies lack the resources to implement advanced AI solutions, making them ideal candidates for this service. Anthropic's engineers will collaborate with the new firm's team to tailor solutions. The midmarket sector is attractive due to its agility, streamlined decision-making, and less technical debt, presenting a significant opportunity for growth.
