New Zelda 8-Record Box Set Is A Test, Says Nintendo
"Nintendo's $180+ Breath of the Wild vinyl soundtrack release is a test On October 29, Nintendo announced a new 8-LP Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild soundtrack box set featuring 134 remastered songs. The newly announced soundtrack will be available in June 2026 and can be pre-ordered starting today. The box set will also include archival artwork created by the development team."
"Here in the U.S., we haven't been releasing much in the way of physical soundtracks at all. And so partly, this is a little bit about us trying to gauge and understand what is the demand for physical soundtracks in the United States. Part of this is also simply an interest in trying to bring video game music to a broader audience, and it's part of a few steps that we've taken."
Nintendo announced an 8-LP Breath of the Wild vinyl box set priced above $180 and a cheaper double LP featuring 34 selected tracks. The 8-LP set contains 134 remastered songs, archival artwork from the development team, and ships in June 2026 with pre-orders opening immediately. Nintendo described the release as a way to gauge U.S. demand for physical video game soundtracks, noting CDs remain prominent in Japan. Company VP Bill Trinen said Nintendo has released few physical soundtracks in the U.S. Previously delisted games received updates, Apple joined the Game Awards advisory board, and Day of the Tentacle continues to be celebrated in 2025.
