Blizzard is rebranding the next Overwatch season as Season One and removing the '2' from the game's title while delivering a broad overhaul. A new cinematic featuring Vendetta and Doomfist launches the first of annual narrative arcs with periodic lore drops over the next year, culminating in the story's conclusion in season six and a new arc starting in 2027. In-game elements will reflect the narrative through map updates, pre-match banter, and live events. The first event will have players choosing sides between Overwatch and Talon in a faction-based competition similar to a Splatfest.
