The Chinese Room has completed a management buyout, becoming an independent studio again. This transition, assisted by VC firm Hiro Capital, followed its acquisition by Tencent subsidiary Sumo Digital in 2018. As part of the buyout, some employees were laid off, reducing the team to 55 members. The studio continues to develop Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and is also working on original projects, maintaining its focus on creativity despite recent challenges.
