Alex Ovechkin returned to the gym in Russia after a month-long vacation in Turkey to prepare for his upcoming NHL season. He expressed the importance of training smartly while allowing time to relax. Ovechkin is set to embark on his 21st NHL season, aiming to break the 900-goal mark after finishing with 897 goals last season. However, he emphasized his current goal of making the roster at age 40 and passing necessary skating tests. Ovechkin will also participate in an exhibition game featuring NHL and KHL players soon.
"I think most important thing is to do smart things when I go back to my home...then, you have to start doing again. That's the hardest part after summer. Me and Pavel going to do our job to get ready for the season and just do my best."
"For me, first of all to make the roster at 40-years-old. Skate, I have to pass skating test, that's one thing and then we'll see."
