The Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City features heightened competition as Texas defeated Oklahoma 4-2 to enter the semifinals, breaking an ongoing 0-5 streak against them. After an exciting Day 1 saw walkoff wins for both Oklahoma and UCLA, Day 2 came with elimination stakes for four teams. No. 3 Florida was the first team to exit after No. 7 Tennessee scored seven times in the first inning and run-ruled the Gators 11-3 in five innings.
Texas finally broke through against rival Oklahoma, advancing to the semifinals with a 4-2 victory. Since 2022, the Longhorns had been 0-5 in the WCWS against Oklahoma compared to 8-0 against all other opponents.
The SEC had nine regional hosts and 14 teams in the tournament, the most for a single conference in tournament history, highlighting the dominance of the conference in college softball.
In Oklahoma City, the conference breakdown is five SEC schools (Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Ole Miss), two from the Big Ten (UCLA and Oregon) and one from the Big 12 (Texas Tech).
