Bray and North Wicklow Area Partnership is running the We Can Quit stop smoking programme again to help local people take steps toward better health. A seven-week course starts on Monday, June 8 at 7pm in Bray and provides a free, friendly, structured pathway. Participants do not need to quit before joining, and a planned quit date is set for week three to allow mental and physical preparation. Each week includes group learning and one-to-one support from experienced facilitators, along with free stop smoking medication. BNWAP also provides ongoing help through a monthly Stop Smoking Support Group in Villa Pacis, Bray, open to anyone at any stage. Sessions may include hands-on activities to manage cravings and build healthier routines, supported by peer encouragement and motivation.
"The next seven-week course begins on Monday, June 8 at 7pm in Bray, offering a free, friendly and structured pathway for those who want to quit smoking. We Can Quit is designed to remove the pressure often associated with giving up cigarettes. Participants are not required to quit before joining; instead, the programme builds gradually, with a planned quit date set for week three."
"From the very first session, attendees are supported in understanding their smoking habits and developing personalised strategies to quit. Each week combines group learning with one-to-one support, ensuring participants have both shared experiences and individual guidance. Free stop smoking medication is also provided, making the programme accessible and removing financial barriers."
"In addition to the structured course, BNWAP offers ongoing help through its monthly Stop Smoking Support Group, facilitated by advisors Karen and Jennifer. This welcoming space is open to anyone at any stage of their quitting journey - whether still smoking, actively trying to stop, or maintaining a smoke-free lifestyle. The group meets on the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm in Villa Pacis, Bray."
"Sessions often include relaxed, hands-on activities such as art workshops or "grow your own vegetables" sessions. These practical elements can play an important role in managing cravings, keeping hands busy and helping to build healthier routines. Equally important is the peer support aspect, as participants share experiences, offer encouragement and build motivation together in a positive and understanding environment."
