New Zealand rotated bowlers, replacing Tahuhu with Jess Kerr, who initially conceded few runs, but change bowlers failed to break the opening pair's momentum. Tahuhu bowled wides and offered scoring opportunities; some deliveries missed off stump. At the end of the powerplay India maintained a run-rate near four per over, and the pair continued to milk singles and boundaries through the middle overs.
