Sabalenka believes players will boycott grand slams to fight for our rights'
"I think at some point we will boycott it, yeah. I feel like that's going to be the only way to fight for our rights. Definitely when you see the number and you see the amount the players are receiving, I feel like the show is on us. Without us there wouldn't be a tournament and there wouldn't be that entertainment."
"The player group has published a series of signed private letters and public statements aimed at the four grand-slam tournaments over the past year arguing that players receive an unfairly low share of revenue. They have also called for contributions to player welfare funds, such as player pension initiatives promoted by the men's Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women's Tennis Association."
"I think we've been pretty reasonable in terms of our proposal and getting the fair share of revenue. I just really hope that all of the negotiation that we are having, we at some point are going to get to the right decision, to the conclusion that everyone will be happy with."
Aryna Sabalenka believes a boycott of grand slam tournaments may be necessary for players to secure a fairer share of the growing revenues. She emphasized that players deserve more compensation for their contributions to tournament success. A group of top players has criticized the prize money levels at the French Open and called for better player welfare initiatives. Iga Swiatek also expressed the need for reasonable proposals to ensure players receive a fair share of revenue from the tournaments.
