Tinder is experimenting with a new height filter, exclusively for Tinder Gold and Premium users, allowing women to filter out men below a specified height. This move has ignited widespread debate online, echoing similar features seen in other dating platforms like Bumble and Hinge. Height preferences in dating, particularly women's inclination towards taller partners, are longstanding topics of conversation. Critics of the filter highlight various absurd suggestions for additional filters and express concerns that it may alienate potential matches, especially for shorter men, who are often referred to as 'short kings.'
In a statement to Mashable, a Tinder spokesperson said they're "always listening to what matters most to our Tinder users," with hopes it'll help users connect "more intentionally" on the platform.
Height has been a popular conversation topic when it comes to dating - specifically, women's preferences for men of a certain height.
There's even a slang term, "short kings," to describe groups of adult men who are on the shorter side, reclaiming the term and putting a positive spin on it.
My guess is that a lot of this is from the guys who will be affected by it: the short kings.
