In Gaza City, we are saying goodbye
Briefly

Gaza City is nearing a forced evacuation due to impending military occupation by Israel. Residents fear never returning to their homes. Pressure began with evacuation orders amid bombardments, which led to mass displacement. One family chose to stay, enduring severe hardship, starvation, and violence. The trauma of past evictions offers little solace, as this situation feels different, marking a potential permanent loss for many families attached to their land. Despite a brief pause during a ceasefire, the looming threat of permanent occupation creates a deep sense of urgency and dread.
We are expecting Israel to officially issue its evacuation orders any time now. My beloved city, Gaza, stands on the brink of a full military occupation by the Israeli army.
Since the beginning of the war, we have heard that Israel wants to occupy our city and take it as a settlement area for its people.
After the genocide started, the Israeli army told everyone in northern Gaza, including Gaza City, to move south. The orders were accompanied by relentless bombardment.
This time, the atmosphere feels different. It feels that the threat of permanent occupation, of permanent loss, is very real.
