As the Israel-Iran conflict escalated for the fifth consecutive day, China criticized US President Trump's combative approach, arguing that it exacerbates tensions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that such threats would not promote de-escalation. Beijing emphasizes dialogue and negotiation, typically attributing blame to Israel while supporting Iran's right to defend itself. An expert noted that these tensions pose a significant risk to China's energy security, highlighting Beijing's cautious but principled stance in this conflict.
"Making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said.
"China tends to focus on two main points: first, it largely places the blame on Israel, and second, it consistently calls for dialogue, negotiation, and de-escalation," said William Figueroa.
"The situation does pose some risk to China's energy security, and Chinese leaders are certainly aware of that," according to William Figueroa.
