Marcia Lucas, an Academy Award-winning film editor, died at age 80 from metastatic cancer in Rancho Mirage, California, confirmed by attorney Deidre Von Rock. She was married to George Lucas from 1969 to 1983 and helped define the New Hollywood era. Her editing credits include films by Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, and George Lucas, including George’s first three films and Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. She won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Star Wars in 1978 with Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew.
