Paul Overton transformed his neglected patio into a serene outdoor escape for just $405 using his TGIF philosophy: thrifted, gifted, invented, or found. The patio was previously uninviting, featuring only bricks and a newer fence. Through careful planning and a six-month collection of decor and plants, including a DIY slatted wall, he created a cozy lounge space. The slatted wall added definition to the breezeway, allowing for a secluded feel, while potted plants contributed to the ambiance, totaling about $100.
"If you're going to adhere to my TGIF philosophy, then you're going to need patience," Paul says. He started collecting items for his new patio in December - six months before the project was completed.
A slatted wall turns the open space into an outdoor room. Paul knew the main challenge in making over this space was figuring how to make 'what was essentially a breezeway' into a cozy outdoor lounge.
