Consider the email Lively sent to the actor Ben Affleck in May 2024, in which she asked him to watch her cut of It Ends with Us, the movie at the center of the controversy. Despite headlines decrying this email as "desperate," "cringe," and worse, I was more surprised at how warm and even jokey it was, and how hard a time I would have had crafting one nearly as good in a similar situation:

Originally scheduled to start March 9, 2026, the It Ends With Us trial now starts on May 18, per . Judge Lewis J. Liman of the Southern District of New York explained that two criminal trials that "take precedent" over a civil trial. The next hearing is on January 22, and Judge Liman reportedly told the parties at a post-discovery hearing on December 9 to talk about settlements, if needed.

Why were these people on the topic? Well, allegedly when Baldoni met with a then-"very pregnant" (his words) Lively to convince her to do the film, they discussed whether or not she would circumcise her fourth child. In the process, he told his soon-to-be co-worker (along with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and a handful of other staff in the room) that he himself was circumcised.

Since the actress sued her It Ends With Us costar Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and retaliation at the end of 2024, a certain class of content creators had been eager to weigh in.
