Jason Varitek, who most recently held the role of "game planning and run prevention coach" in Boston, is set to stay on the Red Sox' staff for at least two more seasons with a new contract, according to MassLive's Sean McAdam. Varitek's previous deal had expired when Boston's season ended earlier this month. Just last week, the former Red Sox captain wasn't sure if he was going to stay in Boston due to his expiring contract.
Indiana has reached a new eight-year contract with Curt Cignetti, which will make him one of the highest-paid football coaches in the FBS with an annual average salary of about $11.6 million, the university announced Thursday. Cignetti guided the Hoosiers to a 10-2 record and a surprising College Football Playoff appearance in his first season at the school in 2024. This season, the No. 3 Hoosiers are 6-0 heading into Saturday's game against Michigan State.
"I'm very comfortable going into the season with a year left," Kerr said. "I'm so aligned with [general manager] Mike [Dunleavy] and [owner] Joe [Lacob]. We talked about this -- there's no reason for discussion or concern. This is kind of a point in our relationship where let's just see how it is at the end of the year."
