Palace still want Mateta to extend his contract. It's going to take some judgement on Palace's end to assess how they think the discussions are going, and then to plan accordingly. If it starts becoming clear that he's not going to sign, they want to maximise the fee they're going to get. I don't think they'll let it get to the same situation with Guehi where if they don't take the offer he's going to leave on a free, they'll sell him before that.
FPL Heisenberg: Crystal Palace have been incredible under Glasner and now is the time to bring their assets in. They have three home games in their next four games and they do not face a top-six team in any of their next six gameweeks. Crystal Palace assets offer great value for money with Daniel Munoz, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta being my recommended triple up.
Thursday was supposed to be Palace's big night as Selhurst Park hosted a match in Europe for the first time in its 101-year history. There was an extra buzz at Selhurst station and inside the ground a sell-out crowd was chanting Glasner's name and singing songs about last season's FA Cup win. Right before kick-off a stunning Dad's Army-inspired tifo plotting out Palace's path from south London to May's Conference League final in Leipzig was unfurled, with a banner underneath saying "we are the boys who will win your little game".
Crystal Palace play AEK Larnaca tonight. Follow all the action with our live commentary... Crystal Palace take on AEK Larnaca tonight hoping to make it two wins from two in the Conference League. Oliver Glasner's side ground out a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend, Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring a hat-trick and they will take on the Cypriots in confident mood. AEK are fifth in their domestic league but won their opening European game, a surprisingly easy 4-0 thrashing of AZ Alkmaar.
Players like Romain Esse and Christantus Uche were recently involved with the Crystal Palace under-21 side against Stevenage, and that is a strong hint that the two players will not be a part of the team in the midweek. Both players have struggled for opportunities under Oliver Glasner this season, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the manager to give them more opportunities in the coming weeks.
