In the bottom of the first inning of Saturday's World Baseball Classic matchup between teams Venezuela and Japan, Seiya Suzuki walked and then attempted to steal second base. In the process of being thrown out, he had an awkward (and hard) slide into the bag, which ultimately required him to leave the game, limping off the field in the process.
This week, Brett and I start with a conversation about the World Baseball Classic, what it means to us, who/what we're really rooting for, and what we hope to see from specific Cubs. After that, we get into the modestly viral Joe Maddon hot takes, one of which I actually think is very much correct.
