From 1850 to 1887, the federal government forced Native Americans onto western reservations. Then, between 1896 and 1960, the government forcibly separated hundreds of thousands of Native American kids from their families and enrolled them into over 400 federal boarding schools across 37 states.
While there are no "biggest" issues facing District 4 residents at the moment, there are numerous issues equal in priority - some of which are life-threatening. Many of the residents with who I have spoken recently say they are struggling financially, unable to meet their most basic needs, such as, food, housing, transportation. Available data suggests 1-in-3 live below the mean poverty level - I would argue the number is greater.
I looked around. There were no utensils to eat it with. "Can I have a knife and fork please?" I asked. My friend stared at me with disbelief. "No, we don't do that here." You see, in the U.K., at least at that time, pizzas came whole. No slices. And you ate the pizza with a knife and fork. So I was a bit confused.
