Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports that the Clippers have chatted extensively with the Cleveland Cavaliers about a potential blockbuster deal that would see the Cavs net James Harden in exchange for two-time Cleveland All-Star point guard Darius Garland. Yahoo Sports' Kelly Iko verifies the mutual interest in a possible deal. The possible trade for a 36-year-old Harden would hinge on LA attaching future draft equity in a move, according to The Athletic's Tony Jones, Dan Woike, Sam Amick and Law Murray.
Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland will participate in limited basketball activities during training camp, and is still expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season. Garland had surgery on his injured big toe that hampered him during the playoffs in early June. Cleveland had the best record in the Eastern Conference last season but was eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in five games in the conference semifinals.
