Gabelli Healthcare & WellnessRx Trust has maintained quarterly payments for over 14 consecutive years with no missed or skipped dividends, recently raising its distribution to $0.17 per share.
Net investment income per share has not covered the quarterly distribution for at least four consecutive quarters. Q1 2026 NII came in at $0.27 per share against a declared distribution of $0.3075.
MORT holds shares in mortgage real estate investment trusts, companies that borrow at short-term rates and invest in mortgage-backed securities or originate real estate loans. The income MORT distributes comes from the dividends paid by the underlying mREITs to their shareholders.
Shares surged 40.6 per cent to 27.2 pence as the company defied the challenging backdrop for advertising groups, but reported a fall in revenue. The company anticipates full year net revenue of roughly £664m, representing a like for like drop of 8.5 per cent. But operating profit is expected to jump 12 per cent to £75m, beating initial forecast and buoying the share price after it declined 18.5 per cent over the last twelve months after a succession of profit warnings.
Erie Indemnity paid $5.46 per share in dividends over the trailing twelve months against earnings of $12.39 per share. That's a 44% earnings payout ratio, well below the 60% threshold I consider healthy. In Q3, the company paid $63.6 million in dividends against net income of $183 million, a 35% payout ratio. The free cash flow picture is equally solid. In 2024, Erie generated $611.3 million in operating cash flow and spent $124.8 million on capex, leaving $486.4 million in free cash flow.
All as it continues to gap higher on strong earnings and a dividend. Not only did the company just declare a 59-cent dividend (payable on January 20 to shareholders of record as of January 6), it also just earned a profit of $1.28, up 44% year over year, and 35 cents better than expected. Sales of $10.65 billion, up 4.6% year over year, beat estimates by $50 million.
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) shares are finally starting to attract attention after gaining close to 7% in a single trading session on news that it's reached a pricing deal with the Trump administration. Indeed, this is the biggest up day for shares of PFE in recent memory. And while investors are upbeat on the pricing plan, I do think that income investors should focus on the longer-term opportunity at hand.
