It's easy to find a lot of negative with the Rangers, so we try to focus on the positive. Though it's only 11 games, the Rangers have a lot of both going on. The defensive process as a whole is strong, with the Rangers looking like a top-10 team in terms of puck possession and play driving at 5v5. The problem is the offense is non-existent due to a number of factors, some that will work themselves out and some that won't.
Yes, I understand that. But I'm getting to the chance. I'd be more worried if we didn't get any chances, if I don't get that chance, if we don't get those chances. It's frustrating for us. It's frustrating for me. How many looks did we have? Not just this game, just overall. I honestly don't know what else to do.
Napoli had the ball in the back of the net in the 27th minute after Adrian Semper's stop from Rasmus Hojlund's shot fell kindly for Eljif Elmas to nod in from close range. However, the goal was ruled out for an offside in the build-up by Hojlund as he darted in behind the Pisa defence, but Napoli soon got themselves ahead.
Atletico's strong start at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix saw them awarded a penalty in the 14th minute when Mallorca captain Antonio Raillo handled in the box. Julian Alvarez assumed responsibility for the spot-kick, but could not give Atletico the lead as his effort was brilliantly saved by Leo Roman down to his left. Atletico's chances of victory took a hit midway through the second half when Sorloth, who had replaced Alvarez just after the hour, was sent off for a high challenge on Raillo.
The hosts opened the scoring after 12 minutes through Alba. Yannick Bright and Messi dispossessed Cristian Roldan in the attacking half and the Argentinian forward drove to the edge of the box before putting the ball on a plate for Alba to finish. Messi then struck the woodwork on the half-hour mark before doubling the lead four minutes before the break.
Michael Keane headed over the bar early on off a lovely set-piece cross from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, while former Villa star Jack Grealish, who created a game-leading five chances, saw a stinging volley saved by Martinez. James Garner set up Keane for another header, but the defender failed to find the target before Youri Tielemans nearly turned the ball into his own net off an Everton corner.
Al-Ahli started strong in the first half, and kept their hosts under early pressure, with Marek Rodak making saves to deny Galeno, Ivan Toney and Franck Kessie. They came closest to taking the lead in the 35th minute through Merih Demiral as he rose highest to meet Alvaro Medran's corner, but his effort struck the top of the goal frame. Just moments later, Georginio Wijnaldum had a glorious opportunity to score after being played in behind, but he skewed his shot well wide of the far post.
