Sometimes holding onto big-name players can cost you valuable points, writes Fantasy Premier League expert Blake Hurst. For Gameweek 10, these five FPL players are underperforming, facing tough fixtures, or battling fitness issues, making them liabilities rather than assets. Selling them now opens up funds and spots for fresher options who can deliver more consistent returns. Strategic exits like these often separate mid-table managers from those charging for the top spots.
FPL Heisenberg: Crystal Palace have been incredible under Glasner and now is the time to bring their assets in. They have three home games in their next four games and they do not face a top-six team in any of their next six gameweeks. Crystal Palace assets offer great value for money with Daniel Munoz, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta being my recommended triple up.
Mohamed Salah no longer holds the "undroppable" tag. He was substituted in the 2-1 loss to Manchester United last weekend - a situation almost unthinkable during his peak last season - and started the midweek win at Eintracht Frankfurt on the bench as a revamped Liverpool scored five. His performances have dipped, and there are growing doubts over his place in the starting lineup, with rotation a real possibility soon.
The forward is sitting on the top points tally and looks every part of a season defining pick, combining goal threat with consistency. What really adds to Semenyo's appeal is the growing sense that he might also be in line for first-choice penalty duties, giving him yet another route to points. With form, fixtures and confidence all lining up, he's not just a decent option but one of the best assets in the game at present.
That's why it's crucial to remember that FPL is a marathon, not a sprint - and even after the toughest gameweeks, there's always room to bounce back. As someone who loves psychology, I often apply it to my own FPL management. The truth is FPL can impact mental health if it stops being enjoyable or becomes the main outlet for stress.
I think the key for Gameweek 4 is to stick with the Liverpool assets you have, do not buy or sell this week until the starters become clear. There's the appealing fixture of Burnley away, but there's no guarantee Isak starts in that game. He has had a disrupted August where he hasn't trained consistently or played any competitive minutes. He only played 18 minutes across two fixtures for Sweden over the international break and so it would be a surprise to be on the team sheet this weekend.
The trickiest game to predict this week is the Manchester derby. City are favourites but haven't beaten United since March 2024 and have scored just three times in the past four meetings. So that - and City's form - puts me off Erling Haaland in gameweek four's Fantasy Premier League team of the week. That could easily backfire but instead I've gone with a team packed with players against the promoted teams and early-season whipping boys Wolves.
Statman Dave: You should be looking at Reijnders. If he plays for Manchester City consistently for the entire season, he's going to score a minimum of 10 goals in the Premier League, potentially 15. He's just someone that you want to get in your team - the spaces he plays in are perfect. Kevin de Bruyne is gone - he's basically playing that same area.
Fantasy Premier League has established itself as a dominant force in the fantasy football landscape, drawing intense participation and dedication from football fans each weekend.
