After deadly wildfires in Los Angeles in the beginning of the year, and a series of massive blazes over the summer, California is experiencing a "calm period" with no major fires currently burning. Cal Fire's emergency incident webpage, which lists all the ongoing wildfires in the state, does not currently show any active blazes as of Tuesday afternoon. And experts are thanking favorable weather over the past two months.

Phil Strickland, Technical Operations Director at 21 Degrees, says: "It wouldn't normally be the visible glass panels where it starts. Any fire is more likely caused by the DC current in cables or connectors, not the panels themselves." He further states, "Even when a system is switched off, sunlight can still generate DC current," he explains. "If connections are poor or components damaged, that current can arc, overheat and cause a fire."

A microwave's main purpose is convenience. It boils the meal-prep process down to the least amount of time and steps possible: Simply heat and eat. While we hate to potentially burst this bubble, nothing is more important than safety. You might want to add just one step back into this routine by switching whatever you're microwaving into a different dish or bowl if you're not 100% sure that a container is, in fact, microwave-safe.

Temperatures will be on the rise in Los Angeles County throughout Labor Day weekend, prompting officials to warn of potentially hazardous temperatures. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that will be in effect from 10 a.m. Monday, Labor Day, until 6 p.m. Tuesday for the Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County inland coast, with temperatures up to 100 degrees expected in some places.

Cordless hair tools were once a boon for travelers, with their portable, bulk-free designs that didn't require a special adapter when visiting overseas. Now, new guidelines from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) no longer permit cordless curling irons, hair straighteners, and more in checked bags as they can catch fire in the cargo hold (the gas cartridges and lithium batteries that power them are highly flammable).

A yellow heat warning has been put in place by the UK Health Security Agency for Saturday due to forecasted high temperatures, particularly affecting vulnerable populations.
