Flags will remain at half-staff throughout Massachusetts and across the U.S. this weekend in memory of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. Gov. Maura Healey has ordered that American flags and Massachusetts flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sept. 14, in accordance with a proclamation from President Donald Trump. The order applies to town and city halls, state-owned or state-controlled buildings, and state military installations.

Birmingham City Council issued a safety plea to residents attaching flags to lampposts, stating it was upgrading streetlights to energy-efficient LED lighting and had removed about 200 banners.

[The code] states that when the flag is displayed on a moving vehicle - like an airplane - it should appear as though it's flying in the wind as the vehicle moves forward.
