First Fridays Art Crawl in North Beach features galleries, museums, bars, and restaurants open late for art and entertainment.
Over the past decade or so, it's becoming increasingly common for galleries to foot the bill for their artist's projects in Venice and other high-stakes biennials: the cost of making (and shipping) ambitious installations has soared, but budgets have not.
When you first walk into the heart of Pont-Aven, you're greeted by a natural soundtrack of the River Aven that runs through the centre, tumbling over large boulders along its way towards the sea. One hour northwest of Vannes, it's a microcosm of so many elements of a Breton town, with its harbour of sailboats, charming huddles of granite dwellings and surrounding woodlands framing the scene.
The SF First Thursday Art Walk makes 27+ galleries available late night to the public for an art walk every first Thursday from 6-10 pm. This is not a bar crawl. Each location is either a traditional gallery or a retail space with room dedicated to fine art. Occasionally there are special events to showcase local independent artists along with food trucks and more.
