At the heart of the LUNA is Astell&Kern's newly developed 13mm Unipolar Micro Planar Magnetic Driver, nicknamed Katabiki. Created in collaboration with Japanese audio brand MADOO, the driver combines advanced engineering with artisanal craftsmanship. Unlike traditional planar drivers, Katabiki uses a unique unipolar magnetic circuit and an ultra-thin, lightweight diaphragm imprinted with an aluminum pattern. Together with a powerful single magnet and dual ring-shaped yoke, the design reduces unwanted resonance while dramatically improving speed, resolution, and tonal accuracy.
