When it comes to sleepovers during high school, parents encounter new concerns such as co-ed arrangements, alcohol presence, firearm safety, and supervision near water.
"Someone at my high school went to the student parking lot and opened all the gas caps on the cars, leaving them hanging by the little strap. Everyone just kind of screwed them back on and went on with their day. Except one kid whose parents had bought him a brand-new Mustang Cobra that he worshipped. He freaked out, convinced someone had put sugar in his gas tank."
When they saw each other around school over the next four years, there was no communication. Ms. Welch told people she didn't like Mr. Page, but after a friend who dated him said he was an OK guy, Ms. Welch developed a curiosity.
"Tottenville is a great program and they're well coached, so they match up very well with us. These games can really go either way at any time for us and we came out on top this time."
"That audition has haunted me for years and I've perfected the art of dodging public singing ever since. Except for the odd Happy Birthday or someone hearing me singing too loud in the shower."
