On Saturday, someone fired a gun on campus during homecoming weekend at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, killing a visitor from Delaware and injuring six people, including a current student and an alum. University leaders suspended classes Monday for a "day of healing and reflection." Gunshots near Howard University in Washington, D.C., also left four individuals injured Friday night, though Howard officials confirmed in a statement that no one involved in the confrontation, or hurt by it, was affiliated with the institution.

A shooting near Howard University has left at least four people shot, police in Washington DC said. The shooting happened as thousands descended on the campus for homecoming celebrations. Police responded to shots being fired at 8.23pm on the 600 block of Howard Place, near the university's Yard and the School of Architecture building. Police say the shooting left one person in critical condition and one person in serious condition.

The court wasn't quite perfect. Just about everything else was, though, as Harker hosted Branham in the first of its kind, Battle on the Turf homecoming volleyball match on Harker's football field. The weather cooperated, producing a gorgeously cloudless, nearly windless fall evening. Later in the match, some condensation accumulated on the court and made things a little bit touch and go for the players.

"I've seen a lot of TikToks from older generations sharing their disapproval of the types of dresses they see high school girls wearing for their homecoming dances," she said. "It does crack me up that for some reason, as we get older, I think that people have a tendency of forgetting that they were once them."
