New in this release JDK 25 delivers sixteen enhancements that are significant enough to warrant their own JDK Enhancement Proposal (JEP), including four preview features, one experimental feature, and one incubator feature. These features cover innovations to the Java language to the libraries (with two improvements specifically to security libraries), performance and runtime, and monitoring improvements. Nine of these features are focused on performance and runtime. Seven of these, Scoped Values, Key Derivation Function API, Module Import Declarations, Compact Source Files and Instance Main Methods, Flexible Constructor Bodies, Compact Object Headers and Generational Shenandoh, are finalized after having evolved from their respective incubations and previews with the exception of the latter two that were experimental features in JDK 24.

JEP 510 proposes the finalization of the Key Derivation Function API after one round of preview, enhancing cryptographic capabilities in Java.
