Michael Porter Jr. will miss at least two weeks with a hamstring strain, potentially ending his season.
Through 38 games, Porter has authored the kind of season coaches typically reward when ballots land on their desks. He entered the day 14th among qualified players in scoring at a career-high 25.6 points per game, fifth in the East, while handing out a career-best 3.2 assists. He ranks seventh in the NBA with 145 made 3-pointers, the most by any player through his first 38 games as a Net, and second in the league with 3.8 made 3s per game, trailing only Stephen Curry.
NEW YORK - Michael Porter Jr. tied his season high with 35 points, Nic Claxton had his second triple-double and the Brooklyn Nets beat the New Orleans Pelicans 119-101 on Saturday. Porter matched his career best by reaching 30 for a third straight game, having also done it last Feb. 3-6 during his final season with Denver. He made five 3-pointers and had nine rebounds after sitting out Thursday to rest his back in the second night of a back-to-back.
After lifting his team to its first two-game winning streak of the season, Michael Porter Jr. missed Thursday's matchup against the Utah Jazz. Porter sat out the back end of Thursday's back-to-back with lower back injury management. Rookie Drake Powell also missed Thursday's game with left knee injury management.
