Protesters assembled on Cliff Road, booing the vice president's motorcade as it arrived for a GOP fundraiser. Cost for attendance was $100,000 per couple.

The settlement creates a Community Claims Fund to compensate local businesses and residents for 'economic harm.' The Town and County of Nantucket announced the settlement agreement, funds from which will go towards compensating the town and local businesses for losses from the incident.

Around 65 percent of the island's nearly 12,000 housing units are occupied by seasonal residents, leading to a severe housing shortage for the local workforce.

Eduardo Calles, a longtime worker on Nantucket, expressed concern saying, 'It's a really hard time... Some people stay home, they don't go anywhere.'
